The Cottage Book was conceived moments after I first toured the gardener’s cottage at the Martin House, was not permitted to document its marvelous spaces, and learned there was no book in the gift shop.  This cottage is quite breathtaking in that though the residence is small, it demonstrates Wright’s principles throughout.  It is a sort of distillation of his ideas.  The details also make this structure remarkable.  So I have created a small book about a small structure.  It is a documentation of “moments” in the structure.  Each image is presented with a quote, mostly from Wright himself, to indicate how close this small structure is to the ideals of Frank Lloyd Wright.

The book includes an Introduction, an essay on Simplicity, and a brief History of the structure.  It is image driven.
